Thrilling music composed by Rexford.
Some of the most extraordinary and thrilling compositons I've heard in years. This wonder comes from Rexford. Every song tells its own story and emanates from his turbulent and fascinating life. He sings on a number of the tracks, although Adam Ellis sings also. In true Bowie style, the music is brilliantly eclectic in nature with inspirations for the songs coming from many different quarters. A couple have been directly provoked from the horrors of warfare such as the transcendental seven-minute long Date with Destiny. The vast majority are rock/pop anthems, which manage to be both intellectually stimulating and sensationally catchy. And then there's the 6 part of " Angeli" with the world's greatest musicans in the form of The London Philharmonia Orchestra. In the Angeli series comes the powerful classical crossover vocal version, demoed by Gari Glaysher and the equally wonderful Angeli pop classic demo. This is simply great and inspiring music touching every level of emotion. Further, and unbellievably we go 180 degrees to spare a few minutes for a young woman getting ready for a night on the town in Million Things To Do. What's more this track is cooly propelled by house music vibes with an outstanding perfomance by Denise Gordon. Meanwhile, Soul On The Street also performed by Denise, incorporates flashes of flamenco guitar (Jon Henderson) Mystery Man is something of an all out Rock Track, before "Killer Touch" weighs up the endless cons of war, in the impressioned style of Bruce Springstein. Ku Ka Zama is a downright hit with great vocals by Lucy and Camilla and Rexford putting in a fantastic cameo performance as the rasta man. And Rexford calls them all demos! You could have fooled me. Quincey Jones is the greatest example of not being constrained by convention. He composed and produced whetever came into his head. We may never have been thrilled by "Thriller" otherwise. Rexford has the same capability. He has the unqiue ability to produce great classical works and at the same time sing as the "rasta man" in his composition Ku Ka Zama! As if this portolio of multi genre music isn't exciting enough in itself, there is a proposed movie in the pipeline about Rexford's trial and tribulation saturated life. Does not get better than this. Hopefully one day in the future the movie going public will see for themsleves what he has been through. American screenplay writer Craig Clyde has invested the best part of five years writing the script with Rexford to make such a project possible. He listened to all of Rexford's music and read his detailed diary. Rexford met up with Craig Clyde in the summer of 2002 in Hollywood (of all places) in order to put the screenplay meat on the bones of his story. Craig says, " I know it's just a matter of time before we see his story on the big screen to inspire and motivate millions around the world. So make a date with Rexford yourself and cross paths with this enigma sooner rather than later.
